About Us

We are ‘look at the source’ enthusiasts. We believe that every single person has the right to know what happens with their food from the soil to their mouths.

We believe in farmers. We believe in you. We believe that when you know the source you can support the farmers that want to create a humane and healthy sustainable practice.

You can change the world by what you choose to support. Getting things for cheap is killing the world. We discovered that many people believe that in order to live efficiently they need to turn a blind eye to the source of the products they buy. We want to change that. We want to give you a source of information and food that focuses on the important things so that those who care can truly care.

We want to find solutions for farmers and solutions for you. We want to make it worth it for you to support and farmers/businesses to practice humane, healthy practices. Why are the prices what they are? What are you supporting when you put your money toward farms and brands? What are the struggles a farm is going through? how do we help them?

We want to help you and the people around you live a lifestyle that makes a difference in the world. We pay attention to the details and bring them to you so that the overwhelming j0b of searching for source information doesn’t have to keep you from caring. We always encourage you to question us and to research for yourself. We will try to be as transparent as possible. We will never be bought and paid for. We care about the world much more than profit.

Who Are We?

We are people just like you. People with a cause.

There was a time when I shared a business proposition with some people and I was told to ditch the social cause or the business will never make much money. There was a time when corporate control was the answer. There was a time when business was all about money but we see a new reality emerging.

There are beautiful companies in this world. You may not know about them or what they truly do for the world because corporations want you to see money/consumerism and not the ethical sustainability. We aim to see through the corporations, through the money, through negative interactions in the world and bring positive sources to you. We want to see the problems and find solutions! We want to support the amazing sources in the world and help them be the best that they can be. That is our passion beyond anything else.

We passionately love and believe in the people and businesses that, no matter how many times they are told to ditch the cause, they stick with what they believe in because every single person and every little step in the right direction makes a positive difference.

A little about the people who started this thing. Cody and Rachel don’t want to be the face of Tasty Source not because they don’t want to connect but because they don’t want this to be just about them. “We want you all to be a part of this if you choose. How do we change this from a business to an ecosystem that supports us all? Our passion is thriving ecosystems everywhere for everyone. If you want to get to know us, we are happy to meet you! reach out. We would rather meet in person rather than online.”

Our Story

Our story is a bit different than most. It starts with a passion and a commitment to feel. I was told once to ‘drop the cause or you will never make much money’. I set out to prove them wrong because running any type of a business without a cause could never feel right to me. Well I soon learned that yes, with the way that business is set up, ditching the cause makes it much easier to make money because you can cut costs and bulldoze through. When you care, fairness, sustainability, and quality is considered.

Cody and I (Rachel) started Tasty Source as a way to show people the value, sustainability and tastiness of caring about the source. The farmers who care don’t make billions but the value of their produce is much higher. Not to mention the taste is so much better. We started our venture in a commercial kitchen making product from produce from farms that care. We jumped through the hoops of the commercial food industry. This phase in our journey was eye opening. Business was not set up for people who care although there are many businesses making that work. It is very easy to decide to cut costs and use unsustainable or low quality materials. Most businesses out there are not sustainable when you really look into it. So when Covid put many choppy waves in front of us, we pushed through until we finally had to stop and question is this the direction we are meant to go? Asking that question made the world around us fall apart. We couldn’t keep going in this unsustainable direction fighting to make it sustainable.

One thing Cody and I had committed to when we started this business was that we would connect & collaborate with each other and feel our way beyond logic. At this time our feelings told us to scratch the limited perspective of business and step into something new. We have been sitting in this new perspective for the past 6 months reforming the way we had done things. We have decided our interaction with money cannot be the same and our interaction with the community cannot be the same as it was. Money: We don’t care much about over valued paper or fake numbers on a screen. We will gratefully welcome any money that truly wants to come to us in support our vision but we also want to explore abundance beyond the money logic. We want to explore connection. We want to explore sources, businesses (or non-businesses like us), and food. Though we technically are still an LLC business, we are moving away from being a business. We cant be that business that sells products. thats just not us but we can deeply appreciate the businesses that are doing that. We can deeply appreciate the humans, the farms, the earth. We can stand with people in a journey to not just survive but to truly thrive. This is what we want to do and we don’t want to do it alone. We want the community, the farms, the businesses to join us. We dont have it all figured out and we dont know what working like a non-business looks like but we are dedicated to this new path.

So if you are curious and you desire, you can walk with us, help us explore, bring your ideas, and collaborate in something new that benefits us all. Maybe together we can open doors and clear paths for learning, connecting, exploring so we can all become truly sustainable in the ways we deeply desire. and really truly thrive together as a community in connection rather than a community in isolation.

So What Does Tasty Source Do?

We get to know the source and we help you get to know them too.

The details we pay attention to:

  • Farms/Businesses- We visit farms and help you know how natural, sustainable, healthy, and humane their practices are.
  • Soil- We test the soil so you know how the soil is interacting with the plants you are purchasing.
  • Plants- We learn the source of their seeds, we find out where the seeds come from and how the plant is cared for through its life.
  • Animals- We find out how the animals are treated and what they eat so that you know you are contributing to a positive animal life.
  • Additives- We find what the farms spray on or feed their plants, animals and soil.

We find out the struggles, successes, details and the life of the farm so that you can feel good about what you are supporting when you buy from them and you can know how you can support them more if you so choose. With the farms permission we will share what we have learned. If we do not get permission to share information we will tell you and If a farm opts out of sharing even minor details we will post on their page that they have opted out.

How Do We Get Our Info

We aim to bring you the farms and businesses who care and are trying to make a positive difference in the world.

Our Information Collection Process:

  • Contact- We contact the farms that seem to have practices we love. We gather info from them and we post on their page what they share with us. This is just a guide before we are able to visit them to confirm what they say and to test their soil. (this will be stated on the farm’s page.)
  • Farms/Businesses- We visit farms and help you know how natural, sustainable, healthy, and humane their practices are. During our visit we confirm and investigate everything that was shared with us. There are hundreds of great farms throughout the U.S. It will take us some time to visit them all. If you want to help us with this process visit the Boost Us Page.
  • Source- We follow everything back to the soil it was grown from. Feed for animals is no different. How was the animal’s food grown that they ate to give you the animal product you are choosing to purchase.
  • Soil- We test and study the soil. We want to see life in the micro-biology, earthworms, fungi, and eco-system. We want to see a high nutrient content or at least a growing nutrient content. We want to see not only extractable nutrient content but exchangeable and soluble nutrients as well. Learn More About Soil Here
  • Plants- We learn the source of their seeds, the nutrient content, the care practices and the love put into growing the plants.
  • Animals- We find out how the animals are treated, how they live and what they eat so that you know you are contributing to a positive animal life.
  • Additives- We find what the farms spray on or feed their plants, animals and soil.
  • Farms- We find out the struggles, successes, details and the life of the farm so that you can feel good about what you are supporting when you buy from them and you can know how you can support them more if you so choose.
  • If You Don’t See the Info You Are Looking For- We will never say anything negative about a farm. We have a very detailed structured form we fill out for each farm. When we are in the communication portion of our process with a farm you may see ‘Info Coming Soon’ in that case, keep checking back. Once we have visited the farms then the entire farm’s form should be filled out. Farms are always free to opt out from sharing info and in that case we will tell you they have opted out. We simply state the facts. If we tell you a farm opted out instead of leaving it blank that means we are respecting the farms wishes but we do know that their practices were natural, sustainable, healthy, or humane.
  • If we have visited the farm and there are details that are blank chances are that:
  1. They did not disclose the information to us at all and therefore there the potential of dishonesty, un-natural practices, or inhuman practices are high. OR…
  2. We did not get permission to share details that were disclosed to us AND those details were NOT natural, sustainable, healthy, or humane.
Basically blank on a farm or business form means we would stay away from that brand if we were you.

How To Read Our Info Presentations

We state the facts. We will be honest and upfront with you. If a farm opts out of sharing info that is not negative we will tell you they opted out. We may not have permission to share facts with you and if we cant share with you info about a negative details or sources, we will tell you with a blank space. Blank space can say more than words can say.
